About the role

Meemoo seeks three enthusiastic and driven board members (m/f/x) to strengthen its board in the coming years. Specifically, we are looking for board members with expertise in at least one of these domains: education and pedagogy, data and technology, and culture and heritage through an international lens.

Responsibilities

• Be involved in strategic and financial leadership of Meemoo
• Collaborate closely with the management to define the general policy and strategy of Meemoo
• Take all measures necessary to realize Meemoo's mission, ensure organizational continuity, and execute subsidy agreements with the Flemish government
• The board of directors meets at least six times a year. There are twelve members, including four appointed by the Flemish Government, two appointed by VRT, four independent board members, and two representatives from Meemoo's content partners.

Requirements

• Experience in leading or managing organizations strategically and financially
• Have a clear vision and strategy for Meemoo and be able to advance it critically and constructively
• Have a deep knowledge of the education sector and/or pedagogical practices, and have insight into how digital content and heritage can be used in learning environments
• Expertise in data and digital innovation, and the ability to outline strategic implications for organizations and ecosystems
• An international perspective on culture and heritage
• Knowledge of and experience with international developments within culture and heritage, and the ability to translate this into the Flemish context
• Combine multiple of these domains, you get a point
• You are excited about Meemoo's mission and eager to contribute constructively to a digitally forward-thinking organization with strong roots in culture, media, and government
• Willing to invest sufficient time in the board mandate, attend board meetings, and prepare them adequately

Qualifications

• At least one of the following domains: education and pedagogy, data and technology (ICT/AI), and culture and heritage (international perspective)
• Broad and relevant network within culture, media, education, or academia
• Work at a Meemoo content partner? You cannot apply for this vacancy, but you can apply for the open position for a content partner representative in our board of directors.

Selection

• Based on the profile, relevant independence requirements, relevant experience, and motivation, a selection committee within the board of directors will make an initial selection of up to ten candidates. These candidates will then be invited for a personal interview. Based on these interviews, the selection committee will report and the board of directors will prepare a shortlist of six candidates.
• From this shortlist, three board members will be selected based on qualities and skills.
