On the Road Mechanic --Heavy Diesel

Responsibilities

• Field lube services (50% of day) - oil changes, topping off hydraulic and coolant, etc.
• Changing filter including oil, air, fuel, etc.
• Performing preventative services on trucks and equipment - primarily easy and direct services that can be done without putting a unit out of service for long periods of time.
• Performing small and quick diagnostics or reporting back faulty items in the field.
• Performing small repairs in the field such as hydraulic line repairs, alternator replacements on equipment, battery replacements, quick assembly glass doors, etc.
• Performing quality control checks of the crew's daily maintenance - this will provide accountability for who is completing reports correctly and will also serve as training for team members who are filling out reports.
• Taking small portable equipment or safety related items to job sites that are located on their route for the day - fire extinguisher replacements, small tools, etc.
• Special projects or other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a US born citizen.
• Must have a clean background.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must have a REAL ID.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Minimum 3+ years of heavy equipment or diesel mechanic knowledge.
• Must be comfortable driving large vehicles - lube truck.
• Must be willing to learn additional tasks and follow instructions.

Physical Requirements

• Employee must be physically fit to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
• Regularly required to sit and stand, must be able to use hands to fingers, handle or feel and verbally communicate and listen.
• Other physical requirements include walking, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
• Specific vision abilities required by the position include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
