Position Summary Saint Mary's Catholic High School seeks a Full-Time Substitute Teacher who is committed to supporting the mission of Catholic education and creating a positive, engaging learning environment. Reporting to the Principal and Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, the successful candidate will provide classroom coverage across grade levels and subject areas, maintain continuity of instruction, uphold school policies, and foster positive relationships with students, faculty, and families. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student success and Catholic values. This is a full-time, on-campus position requiring effective communication, strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage responsibilities accurately and efficiently. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Faith Leadership and Catholic Identity Support and uphold the mission and philosophy of Catholic education.Model Gospel values and Catholic moral teachings in word and action.Respect and support the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.Demonstrate a lifestyle consistent with Christian values and professional conduct.Participate in school-sponsored faith formation and spiritual development opportunities. Classroom Instruction and Management Prepare classrooms and instructional materials for daily learning activities.Implement lesson plans and instructional objectives provided by classroom teachers.Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive learning environment.Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures.Apply appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary and document incidents as required.Follow all procedures and communication protocols outlined in the Substitute Teacher Handbook.Supervise students during assigned duties and transitions throughout the school day. School Community Engagement Foster respectful, professional, and collaborative relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration.Recognize and uphold the role of a Catholic educator and its impact on the broader community.Support and promote curricular and co-curricular programs.Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school events as assigned.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by school administration. Professional Development Participate in diocesan and school-sponsored training and professional development opportunities.Contribute to continuous school improvement efforts.Maintain required certifications and professional development records.Stay current on instructional best practices and educational requirements. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required.Eligible to obtain or currently hold an Arizona Substitute Teaching Certificate.Arizona Department of Education Substitute Teacher Certification required or ability to obtain before employment.Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required.Completion of Diocese Safe Environment Training and signed Code of Conduct required.Practicing Roman Catholic preferred.Catholic candidates must be willing to make a Profession of Faith.Non-Catholic candidates must be willing to support and uphold the mission, teachings, and philosophy of Catholic education. Terms of Employment Full-time, salaried position.Ten-month employment letter with compensation paid over twelve months.Regular school-year schedule with required faculty meetings, professional development, and other assigned responsibilities.Mandatory workdays and additional duties will be communicated prior to the start of each academic year.
