On‑Demand Team Member

This role lets you create your own schedule by picking up shifts posted in the myTime mobile scheduling app. You must respond to shift offers, work at least one shift every four weeks (minimum four hours), and work at least one shift within five months or employment will be terminated. Attendance, reliable communication, and flexibility are critical.

Service & Engagement

Guest Advocates deliver a welcoming, efficient experience, promote loyalty programs, and support in‑store and digital services such as order pick‑up, drive‑up, and gift registry.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly (friendly smile, eye contact, wave) from 10 ft and engage them within 4 ft.
• Help guests locate items or resolve issues to ensure a smooth shopping experience.
• End every transaction with a sincere thank‑you.
• Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive, respectful attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy, inspiring experience.
• Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest experience.
• Scan and bag items efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with food‑safety standards.
• Work quickly to minimize guest wait time while maintaining accuracy.
• Inform guests about current and upcoming brand launches, store activities, and events.
• Promote Target Loyalty programs, assist with sign‑up, and explain benefits.
• Guide guests on fulfillment services, enrollment, activation, and usage.
• Show guests how to use the Target Wallet and other app features.
• Process returns according to register prompts and partner with leaders to resolve issues.
• De‑escalate situations with leader support while following policies.
• Provide accurate service for Order Pick‑Up, Drive‑Up, and Registry guests.
• Maintain a clean, clutter‑free work area, including gathering abandoned items, baskets, and hangers.
• Stock supplies during store hours while remaining available to assist guests.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance at all times.
• Report and correct hazards, adhering to all safety policies and best practices.
• Support guest services such as order pick‑up, drive‑up, and returns, complying with adult‑beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties as needed based on business requirements.

Requirements

• Effective communication using positive language and attentive listening.
• Ability to stay focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment while handling multiple tasks.
• Welcoming, helpful attitude toward guests and teammates.
• Strong attention to detail while multitasking.
• Willingness to educate guests about products and services.
• Proficiency with multiple frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology as directed.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Quickly resolve guest questions on the spot.
• Accurate cash register operations and support for cash‑office tasks.
• Physical ability to lift/move merchandise up to 10 lb regularly and up to 44 lb occasionally without assistance.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak times as needed.
• Active engagement in picking up and working scheduled shifts and responding to contact attempts.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions (e.g., drive‑up, carry‑out areas).
• Mobility to remain on‑feet for the duration of a shift, which may vary in length.

This on‑demand position offers a flexible schedule. Shifts are self‑selected via the myTime app, and you must pick up at least one shift every four weeks (minimum four hours) and work at least one shift within five months to remain employed.
