Part-time, hourly (non-exempt) position based at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles (Wilshire, Pickford, and Fairbanks locations).

About the role

The On-Call Supervisor, Events A/V supports internal event production for non-exhibition audiovisual experiences at the Academy Museum and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. This role leads event-day A/V staff and maintains audiovisual technology inside Academy Theaters and event spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the A/V Lead for theater and non-theater activations.
  • Supervise a team of AV technicians.
  • Operate lighting consoles and digital audio consoles.
  • Troubleshoot common audiovisual issues.
  • Collaborate with event-day production and internal/external stakeholders to maintain the highest level of production excellence.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent certificate of completion.
  • Minimum of four years as an A/V engineer or comparable experience.
  • Minimum of two years leading a production team or comparable experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Dante and similar audio over IP technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate lighting and audio consoles.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel between Academy locations throughout the Los Angeles area.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and short-notice events.
  • Comfort and ability to move and transport a minimum of 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19, including any booster vaccinations as applicable (medical and religious accommodations available).

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree in film production or technical theater.
  • Dante Level 2 certification.
  • QSYS Level 1 certification.
  • Understanding of technical theater terminology.
  • Experience with technical show calling or stage management.
  • Experience as a lead in a client-facing role.
  • Experience as a lighting, audio, or theater department lead.
  • Experience in infrastructure fiber/data traffic.
  • Project management experience supporting technical installations.
  • Passion for cinema and cinema history.

Work Environment

  • Work may be performed in darkened theaters, electrical or server rooms, conference rooms, shared office spaces, and noisy or crowded environments.
  • Work may involve heights, requiring the use of heavy machinery, lifts, scaffolding, or harnesses.
  • Up to 30% travel time between Academy locations in the Los Angeles area.

Pay

$30.00 - $32.00 per hour
