About the role
The On-Call Stormwater Specialist is responsible for developing and inspecting stormwater and erosion and sediment control plans. This position requires a combination of in-office and field-based activities and focuses on stormwater permitting and inspection in the State of California.
Essential job functions
- Develop Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Water Pollution Control Plans (WPCP)
- Develop SWPPP and WPCP maps using ArcGIS
- Conduct routine inspections of active construction sites for plan compliance
- Cook with relevant agencies to obtain relevant stormwater permits
- Ensure compliance with stormwater permits
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group’s culture of safety and employee ownership
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures
Other duties
The Position will require outside travel and may require on-going training to maintain certification.
Job requirements
- Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) / Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) Certification
- Minimum one year of work experience in stormwater management
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans
- Experience working with geospatial mapping tools and software
- Experience and comfortability working around active construction machinery
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle in an off-road environment
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
Prior experience
- Three or more years of experience working in stormwater management
- Proficiency in creating maps using ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise
- Experience working in the utility industry
- EPA Construction General Permit Inspector Training Certification
- Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL)
- Experience in a safety coordination role
- OSHA training
