About the role
The RN on-call provides direct patient care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to hospice patients after hours.
Responsibilities
- Communicates pertinent findings to the physician
- Implements medical treatment plan
- Instructs family accordingly
- Identifies problems/needs of patient and caregiver, making recommendations for pain management and comfort/symptom management
- Responds to calls promptly when received from the answering service
- Is able to prioritize
Requirements
- Must be licensed as an RN in Pennsylvania
- Ability to relate and treat terminally ill patients/families and their particular problems
- Must possess strong patient assessment, patient management and documentation skills
- Access to a reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance
Skills
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize
