On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) - 7 on 7 off

About the role

Brighton/Suncrest Hospice is seeking an experienced hospice RN for an on‑call position covering the greater St. Louis area. The RN will provide clinical visits, handle phone triage, and support patients and families throughout the hospice continuum, helping the organization maintain a high staff‑to‑patient ratio and lower clinician caseloads.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and services for hospice patients in private homes, assisted‑living facilities, and hospitals.
• Complete hospice admissions and conduct patient visits as needed.
• Answer triage calls from patients, families, and customers.
• Make nursing visits for symptom management, end‑of‑life care, and admissions.
• Advocate for hospice services and represent Suncrest Hospice.
• Communicate via phone, email, and written documentation; attend meetings with healthcare professionals.
• Follow hospice rules, regulations, and documentation standards.
• Prioritize and triage multiple concerns, managing time for visits, documentation, and urgent needs.
• Learn and use the electronic medical records system.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the state(s) of practice, in good standing.
• Minimum one year of RN experience; admissions and on‑call experience preferred.
• Strong clinical and communication skills.
• Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team (nurses, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, CNA leadership).
• Capacity to work independently and manage a day‑to‑day schedule.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance for travel across the service area.
• Willingness to learn and navigate an electronic medical records system.

Pay

$95,000 – $105,000 per year plus monthly bonus opportunities.

Schedule

7 days on, 7 days off. Working days are Monday‑Thursday 4:30 pm – 8:00 am, and Friday 4:30 pm – Monday 8:00 am.
