Essential Responsibilities
- Drives to wherever needed to fill in at any and all of our branches and department locations throughout the Hampton Roads area including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Chesapeake.
- Agree to work when called upon. Holidays are a popular time to be available.
- Must be available to fill in for vacations, medical leaves, and other absences.
- Absences are unplanned so the on-call receptionist must be prepared to work spur of the moment.
- Displays a professional appearance and behavior.
- Welcome members to TowneBank, determine the nature of their business, and direct them to the appropriate person or department.
- Operates the department’s or branch’s main telephone switchboard and assists callers by transferring them to the appropriate party or taking messages from the caller.
- Becomes familiar with TowneBank’s locations, hours, telephone numbers and individuals so that routine questions can be answered with ease.
- Typing memos, correspondence, reports and other documents as needed.
- Assists the branch or department team with a variety of day-to-day duties as requested.
- Assists with copy projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Physical Requirements
- Sitting 60% of the time.
- Walking to the teller line and to other co-workers several times daily to deliver mail and customers’ transactions.
- Escorting customers to other branch personnel.
- Assisting elderly and handicapped customers when entering and leaving the building.
- Operating the copy machine several times a day.
- Walking to check the FAX machine hourly; operating the FAX machine; adding paper and performing necessary maintenance to the machine.
- Maintaining and organizing supplies requiring lifting (up to 10 pounds), reaching, bending and stooping.
- Preparing and monitoring coffee and refreshments for customers.
Environmental Conditions
- Normal business environment.
- The Receptionist area is located near the main doors which can result in a change in air temperature throughout the day.
Minimum Required Skills And Competencies
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent telephone skills.
- Flexibility and dependability is a must.
Desired Skills And Competencies
- Computer experience (Word and Excel).
