On-Call Nurse

About the role

The RN on-call provides direct patient care with special emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms to hospice patients after hours.

Responsibilities

• Communicate pertinent findings to the physician and implement the medical treatment plan.
• Instruct family members accordingly.
• Identify problems or needs of the patient or caregiver and make recommendations for pain management and comfort/symptom management.
• Respond promptly to calls received from the answering service.
• Prioritize tasks effectively.

Requirements

• Must be licensed as an RN in Ohio.
• Ability to relate to and treat terminally ill patients, families, and their particular problems.
• Strong patient assessment, patient management, and documentation skills.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation, and communication skills.
• Access to a reliable automobile with proof of liability insurance.
