About the Role

HealthRIGHT360 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, integrated, and compassionate care to vulnerable populations. Our services include primary medical care, mental health services, substance use disorder treatment, and transitional support for individuals re-entering the community after involvement in the criminal justice system. North County Serenity House (NCSH), a residential program of HealthRIGHT360, offers gender-responsive and trauma-informed substance use disorder services to women, including those with co-occurring mental health disorders. This is an on-call, union-eligible position with varying shift hours, primarily overnight (11pm-7:30am).

Responsibilities

  • Direct Service:
    • Remain alert and awake during the entire overnight shift.
    • Assist clients with intake, assessment, and orientation to the program upon admission.
    • Check clients in and ensure unsafe items are not brought into the facility.
    • Apply trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and supervision of clients.
    • Complete regular facility rounds to maintain supervision of clients and the facility.
    • Supervise clients during chores, visiting hours, mealtimes, medication administration, detox, donations, group activities, and free time.
    • Monitor visiting hours and address safety concerns.
    • Conduct random and planned room searches.
    • Assist in storing and accounting for clients’ belongings at admission and discharge.
    • Complete random and planned urinalysis tests and document results.
    • Transport clients as needed.
  • Clinical Documentation:
    • Write and complete all progress notes within 72 hours of service delivery.
    • Maintain compliance with due dates for all clinical documentation.
    • Document participant urinalysis tests using the UA form and progress notes.
    • Complete same-day incident reports.
    • Document behavioral support rounds every 30 minutes as assigned.
  • Administration and Other Duties:
    • Maintain frequent communication with the treatment team and engage in regular consultations.
    • Collaborate with the treatment team and communicate behavioral concerns to case managers, therapists, medical staff, and psychiatrists.
    • Maintain compliance with registration or certification requirements.
    • Attend and actively participate in clinical supervision and agency/team meetings.
    • Complete assigned training in a timely manner.
    • Read and respond to emails as appropriate.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education, Certification, or Licensure:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred.
    • Registration as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor from an accredited California agency (CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP); certification preferred.
    • Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
    • Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of two years’ experience in the human service field, preferably in substance abuse treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery.
    • Experience working with clients experiencing acute withdrawal from substances.
