On-Call Field Archaeologist

About the role

The WSP Cultural Resources Management Team is seeking On-Call Field Archaeologists for a long-term Phase III archaeological data recovery project at five multi-component Pre-Contact archaeological sites. The positions are available in various locations across the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Arcaeological test unit and shovel test excavation
  • Excavation of cultural features
  • Recovery and identification of archaeological artifacts and other materials
  • Use archaeological field forms to record archaeological data
  • Work effectively as part of a team
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Strictly abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in anthropology / archaeology or a closely related field
  • Archaeological field school or similar archaeological field experience
  • Self-motivated, physically able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions, and be able to follow instructions

Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Pre-Contact archaeological sites in Arkansas, eastern Oklahoma, and the surrounding region
  • Pre-Contact lithic artifact identification and analysis

Pay

Hourly rates are industry competitive, depending on North American CRM experience and regional archaeological experience.

Schedule

This is an on-call, hourly position.
