On Call - EMT and Paramedic Laboratory Technician

Position Information

The EMS Laboratory Technician aids in the education of EMS students and should possess sound clinical knowledge in EMS.

Job Duties

• Aid in the education of EMS students by assisting the Program Coordinator and ancillary staff with various tasks such as course paperwork, data collection/entry, copying, faxing, emailing, and postage.
• Assist with lab and/or class services including gathering needed equipment, room set-up, take-down, and exam proctoring.
• Assist with scenario/role-playing exercises and evaluations of classroom or lab activities.
• Clean specialty rooms/labs, including vacuuming, dusting, etc.
• Transport supplies and/or equipment to various teaching locations on campus.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• State of Michigan EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic licenses in good standing.
• AHA BLS certification (ACLS is required for all Paramedic Techs).
• One (1) year experience in current level of licensure with a transporting life support agency.
• Currently working for a transporting life support agency.
• Hold a state of Michigan operator driver’s license (in good standing).
• Ability to complete all tasks of the EMT/Paramedic Core Performance Standards.
• Available for both night, day, and weekend offerings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Paramedic license.
• Associate Degree in EMS or Related Field.
• Five (5)+ years of relevant field experience.
• Community college/higher education experience.
• Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
• Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
• EMS-Specific Courses (ACLS, BLS, PALS, PHTLS, etc.).
• Michigan EMS Instructor/Coordinator License.
