Position Information
The EMS Laboratory Technician aids in the education of EMS students and should possess sound clinical knowledge in EMS.
Job Duties
- Aid in the education of EMS students by assisting the Program Coordinator and ancillary staff with various tasks such as course paperwork, data collection/entry, copying, faxing, emailing, and postage.
- Assist with lab and/or class services including gathering needed equipment, room set-up, take-down, and exam proctoring.
- Assist with scenario/role-playing exercises and evaluations of classroom or lab activities.
- Clean specialty rooms/labs, including vacuuming, dusting, etc.
- Transport supplies and/or equipment to various teaching locations on campus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- State of Michigan EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic licenses in good standing.
- AHA BLS certification (ACLS is required for all Paramedic Techs).
- One (1) year experience in current level of licensure with a transporting life support agency.
- Currently working for a transporting life support agency.
- Hold a state of Michigan operator driver’s license (in good standing).
- Ability to complete all tasks of the EMT/Paramedic Core Performance Standards.
- Available for both night, day, and weekend offerings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Paramedic license.
- Associate Degree in EMS or Related Field.
- Five (5)+ years of relevant field experience.
- Community college/higher education experience.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
- EMS-Specific Courses (ACLS, BLS, PALS, PHTLS, etc.).
- Michigan EMS Instructor/Coordinator License.
