General Duties and Responsibilities Duties And Responsibilities Dust, sweep, mop and vacuum and strip and wax floors, stairways and corridorsDetermine type of chemicals and equipment necessary for specific cleaning tasksClean restrooms and restock paper and soap suppliesPerform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and maintain/order suppliesEmpty trash receptacles and bag trash for proper disposalClean windows, walls, furniture and other items as assigned or as necessaryProperly lock and unlock doors for cleaning purposes; ensure all windows and doors are secured as appropriate when leavingSet up rooms for various functions using a work order for directionEnsure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practicesAssist with ice, snow and other debris removal activitiesOperate a service vehicle as required to perform dutiesAvailable for call back and scheduled overtime, as requiredOther duties as assigned or as necessary Education and Skills Ability to lift/push/pull 50 pounds.A combination of education and experience that provides a demonstrated knowledge of custodial dutiesAbility to effectively and safely operate a variety of tools and equipment necessary to carry out assignments including buffers, carpet shampooer and various types of vacuumsAbility to communicate effectively, read work orders and understand safety proceduresAbility to safely use chemicals required for the jobAble to work independently with little directionWell-organized, able to work under pressureAbility to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Lift up to 50lbs; lifting, pulling, bending Driving Required Yes Salary Range $20.55 Note Connecticut College is committed to fair and competitive compensation.
