About the role

This is a contingent, on‑call Customer Service Associate (CSA) position. Employees are contacted and scheduled to work when there are open shifts, staffing needs, or anticipated busy periods. Acceptance of individual shifts is subject to business needs and scheduling requirements. The CSA works at an assigned store location and assists in the safe, customer‑focused, and profitable operation of the facility under direct supervision of the Store Manager.

Responsibilities

• Daily cash handling, lighting/fixtures, cleaning & maintenance.
• Ensure security of all inventory and currency to prevent theft and shrinkage.
• Assist customers with product purchases, promotions, pricing, and provide friendly service.
• Meet, greet, and thank customers; handle complaints tactfully.
• Develop customer connections through understanding frequent purchases.
• Properly utilize transactional equipment (cash registers, electronic safe, lottery, fuel, phone card, EBT, credit card, etc.).
• Adhere to cash handling procedures per Company Loss Prevention Policy.
• Follow security controls for drive‑offs, burglary, theft prevention, ID checks, counterfeit bills, etc.
• Operate, clean, deep clean, and maintain food service equipment (coffee, fountain drink machine, frozen beverages, iced tea, hot dog grille, microwave, etc.).
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store (inside/outside), including restrooms, floors, countertops, shelving, displays, merchandise, food service area, parking lot, pumps, car wash, and facility property.
• Stock, clean, organize, and maintain walk‑in cooler and freezer.
• Perform inventory duties: vendor check‑in, correct product pricing, apply codes per policy.
• Stack products in boxes/crates not exceeding five feet; rotate merchandise using FIFO.
• Complete required orientation and ongoing training; attend store meetings.
• Report observed dishonesty to management or HR.
• Ensure secured area doors are locked; engage alarm during closing.
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Notify supervisor/HR of incidents; document on appropriate company forms.
• Accurately record time worked and lunch breaks via computerized time clock and manual sheets.
• Assist customers with fuel pumps, air hoses, car wash, fountain, cappuccino, coffee, and other equipment.
• Ring fuel and non‑fuel sales, lottery tickets, activate prepaid cards on the cash register.
