On-Call Banquet Cook

About the role

Mandarin Oriental, Boston is seeking an On-Call Banquet Cook to join the Food and Beverage team. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in luxury hospitality settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef in planning, preparation, and production of all food items for Mandarin Oriental, Boston.
• Anticipate guests' needs and address them accordingly to provide a delightful experience.
• Report to the Sous Chef and Executive Banquet Chef.
• Carry out the production of all dishes according to the prescribed recipes and specifications.
• Ensure portion size, quality, and presentation of dishes conform to Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group standards.
• Check and prepare the required mise-en-place.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of food to minimize spoilage.
• Keep the kitchen area clean and hygienic.
• Monitor refrigerators and kitchen equipment to ensure they are in working order.
• Set up the kitchen pass before each service following Chef's requirements.
• Handle complaints/enquiries promptly and effectively.
• Recommend and develop solutions to meet guests' changing needs.
• Perform any other reasonable duty as required by the kitchen management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years in a similar position, luxury hospitality strongly preferred.
• Good knife skills.
• Knowledgeable about a variety of food and cuisines and proper sanitation practices.
• Able to walk and stand for the entire shift.
• Able to regularly lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds.
• Flexible schedule for on-call shifts to include weekends and holidays.
