OMHC Medical Director (Psychiatrist, M.D.)

Job Summary

The Medical Director will oversee psychiatric services, provide clinical leadership, and ensure that all services meet Maryland Medicaid and federal regulations under 42 CFR § 440.90. This role includes direct client care, telehealth evaluations, and supervision of medical necessity for ongoing services. Flexible scheduling and remote options are available.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide medical direction and assume clinical responsibility for all outpatient mental health services. - Complete initial psychiatric evaluations (telehealth acceptable) and prescribe care as needed. - Periodically review treatment plans and assess ongoing medical necessity. - Collaborate with therapists, CRNPs, and support staff to ensure high-quality care. - Serve as the point of contact for audits, quality assurance, and compliance inquiries. - Ensure alignment with COMAR, CARF, and federal Medicaid regulations. - Participate in occasional staff training or case consultations.

Qualifications

- MD or DO licensed to practice in the State of Maryland. - Board Certified in Psychiatry (ABPN) OR completed an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency. - 2+ years of clinical experience in an outpatient or community mental health setting preferred. - Strong understanding of Medicaid compliance and EHR documentation. - Ability to work independently and collaborate virtually with a multidisciplinary team.
