Oliver Wyman’s Private Equity team in North America is hiring consultants to support its rapid growth. The team works with private equity investors throughout the deal transaction lifecycle: from opportunity identification through due diligence and post-transaction value realization. We take a multi-specialist approach to engagements, bringing teams with deep industry and functional expertise, supported by proprietary approaches and a world-class network. This enables clients to achieve differentiated results, both on deals and post-transaction. We have completed hundreds of engagements for leading private equity firms across North America, Europe, the Middle East, China, and Southeast Asia, creating sustainable shareholder value.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a successful team at the center of the firm’s strategy. Consultants are given the opportunity for rapid professional growth, to participate in entrepreneurial work, and to share in the team’s achievements. The role is open to Engagement Managers, Associates, and Senior Consultants, with a focus on the Aerospace & Defense practice group, particularly commercial aerospace. Positions are available in Boston, Washington DC, New York, and Chicago.

Responsibilities

  • Provide industry- and discipline-specific knowledge and expertise to amplify impact and shape the future for private equity clients.
  • Support private equity investors throughout the deal transaction lifecycle, including opportunity identification, due diligence, and post-transaction value realization.
  • Apply specialized expertise in commercial aerospace and other industries within the Aerospace & Defense sector.
  • Conduct customer research using techniques such as interviews, surveys, and focus groups.
  • Solve complex strategic problems with demonstrable analytical skills.
  • Collaborate fluidly and respectfully with a talented, diverse team in a collegial and entrepreneurial environment.

Requirements

  • Professional working experience with exposure to commercial and operational due diligence in a management consulting firm.
  • Experience working across or within industries relevant to Private Equity.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with customer research techniques (interviews, surveys, focus groups, etc.).
  • Strong background in strategic problem-solving with demonstrable analytical skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both formal and informal settings.
  • Fluency in English.
  • An undergraduate or advanced degree from a strong academic program.
  • Initiative to seek out opportunities to learn new skills and apply existing ones effectively.
  • Creativity and intelligence to develop novel solutions for complex client problems.
  • Aptitude for analytical work, including interpreting large data sets and identifying key issues in complex challenges.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Pay

The applicable base salary range for this role is $225,000 to $240,000. The base pay offered will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentives.

Schedule

Oliver Wyman is committed to a hybrid work model, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the benefits of in-office collaboration. All colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week for full-team in-person collaboration.
