The Life Actuarial Practice works with organizations to manage insurance risks using advanced actuarial and modeling techniques, with employees across over a dozen offices worldwide.
About the Role
Oliver Wyman is seeking an experienced Annuities Manager with 5+ years of experience in the annuities sector. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in annuity product development, pricing strategies, regulatory compliance, hedging, and risk management. This role is essential for leading annuity product initiatives and driving growth in our annuities business.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex annuity-focused analyses covering product development, rate setting, assumption benchmarking, hedging, and valuation.
- Own ongoing communication with clients, ensuring their highest satisfaction.
- Ensure technical accuracy and integrity in your work and in the work produced by junior staff.
- Produce executive-level management reports and confidently present findings to internal senior leaders, clients, and executives.
- Build a strong industry network by demonstrating expertise and highlighting the unique value Oliver Wyman provides.
- Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative, performance-driven environment that encourages team members to challenge the status quo.
- Promote active knowledge sharing within the team to support continuous learning and improvement.
- Support the professional growth of junior staff by expanding their annuity expertise and enhancing their consulting capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., FSA, MAAA) are preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with annuity products, preferably with hands-on involvement in pricing, product development, and/or inforce management.
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) credential preferred.
- Knowledge of the annuity market landscape, including key players, trends in product development, product management, and regulatory changes.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with an ability to navigate complex problems effectively.
- Demonstrated capability to lead teams and manage multiple workstreams with minimal oversight, from analysis to delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders and advocating for strategic initiatives.
- Effective organizational skills with a focus on delivering exceptional results while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of financial modeling systems or open-source scripting languages, such as Moody’s AXIS, FIS Insurance Risk Suite (formerly Prophet), R, and Python is valuable.

Pay
The applicable base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $195,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for meaningful performance-based incentives, including year-end bonuses based on personal and corporate performance.

Schedule
This is a full-time, hybrid role. All colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
