About the role

Oliver Wyman’s Actuarial Consulting Practice advises clients across risk management issues, with a rapidly growing global footprint. Our actuaries are recognized experts who combine mathematical and statistical modeling with qualitative assessment to help clients prepare for uncertain future events. Within the Life Actuarial Practice, we focus on managing insurance risks using advanced actuarial and modeling techniques across more than a dozen offices worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex annuity-focused analyses spanning product development, rate setting, assumption benchmarking, hedging, and valuation.
  • Own ongoing communication with clients to ensure the highest satisfaction.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and integrity in deliverables and mentor junior staff.
  • Produce executive-level management reports and present findings confidently to senior leaders and clients.
  • Build a strong industry network by demonstrating expertise and highlighting Oliver Wyman’s unique value.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative, performance-driven environment that challenges the status quo.
  • Promote active knowledge sharing to support continuous learning and improvement.
  • Support the professional growth of junior staff by expanding their annuity expertise and consulting capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field; advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., FSA, MAAA) are preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with annuity products, with hands-on involvement in pricing, product development, and/or inforce management.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) credential preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of the annuity market landscape, including key players, product development trends, product management, and regulatory changes.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to navigate complex problems effectively.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead teams and manage multiple workstreams with minimal oversight, from analysis to delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders and advocating for strategic initiatives.
  • Effective organizational skills with a focus on delivering exceptional results while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling systems or scripting languages such as Moody’s AXIS, FIS Insurance Risk Suite (formerly Prophet), R, and Python is valuable.

Pay

The applicable base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $195,000. Base pay is determined based on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and applicable minimum wage requirements, with decisions made on a case-by-case basis. In addition to base salary, the position is eligible for performance-based incentives.

Schedule

This is a hybrid role with locations in Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Hartford, New York City, and Seattle. Marsh is committed to hybrid work, requiring colleagues to be in their local office or onsite with clients at least three days per week, with at least one “anchor day” per week for full team in-person collaboration.
