OIG Nurse Surveyor II

About the role

This position requires extensive in-state travel, overtime, weekend work, and overnight stays depending on the type of survey and the location of the facility being inspected. It also requires the physical ability and energy to traverse large healthcare facilities for extended periods of time during surveys/inspections.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of healthcare facilities and services for licensure and certification purposes.
• Congratulate and assist in the enforcement of state licensing regulations for health facilities.
• Perform certification surveys and investigations to determine compliance with The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations.
• Complete all aspects of the survey process.
• Complete training and obtain Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test certification from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare.
• Aid in the development of program information and materials.
• Observe the quality of patient care and associated medical records.
• Participate in conferences, webinars, and other types of training to improve knowledge and skills related to regulation of healthcare facilities.

Requirements

• Must have two years' experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• A bachelor's degree will substitute for one year as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Must be licensed in Kentucky as a practical nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
• Maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

• Physical ability and energy to traverse large healthcare facilities for extended periods of time during surveys/inspections.
• Prefer applicants who are SMQT Certified.
• Ability to work mandatory overtime and weekends when needed.
• Ability to travel and stay overnight for several days depending on the location, length and type of survey being conducted.
