Offsite Medical Assistant I-Multispecialty-Jackson Heights, NY-Full Time-Day
Responsibilities
- Checks schedules and organizes patient flow.
- Accompanies patients to exam/procedure room, assists with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting and processing specimens, and point of care testing.
- Affords physicians with various procedures, takes vital signs, relays instructions, and provides information.
- Fulfills clerical duties such as sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, completing forms, and requisitions.
- Enters orders into the EMR system or prepares prescription refill requests.
- Inventories, orders, or restocks medical supplies.
- Prepares examination rooms and instruments according to sterilization techniques and infection control policies.
- Maintains logging system for medications, point of care testing, sterilization processes, crash carts, and other relevant areas.
- Ensures medication and supply expiration dates are checked and disposed of appropriately.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and adhering to personal protective equipment requirements.
- Assists in maintaining medical charts, filing, Op Reports, test results, home care forms, and scheduling surgeries/procedures.
- Schedules appointments, registers patients, updates demographic and insurance information, and verifies pre-certification for procedures.
- Performs proficient phlebotomy duties as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program from an approved school
- Certified as Medical Assistant preferred
- None but 1-2 years preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish - Required
Licensing And Certification Requirements (if Applicable)
- Completion of Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy certificate or Associates-level program
