About the role
The Office Technician (Typing) (OT(T)) performs a wide variety of complex and varied clerical functions involving a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, the evaluation of complex situations, and taking appropriate action. Responsibilities include performing reception duties, drafting and reviewing various documents, and managing office equipment and supply inventory. This position is located within the Executive Office under the direction of the Supervisor I.
This listing is also being advertised at the Office Assistant (Typing) level (JC-526385). Candidates may apply at both levels but must submit a separate application for each. The complexity of duties will be adjusted to match the classification of the candidate hired.

Work Location
The State Treasurer's Office is located in the historical Unruh Building at 915 Capitol Mall, Sacramento County, close to the State Capitol, public transportation, and parking garage options. The building is adjacent to State Capitol Park, offering a scenic environment for exercise and relaxation. The surrounding neighborhood features numerous dining options, coffee shops, fitness clubs, and convenience stores.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex and varied clerical functions requiring initiative and independent judgment.
- Evaluate complex situations and take appropriate action.
- Handle reception duties, including greeting visitors and answering phones.
- Draft, review, and edit various documents.
- Manage office equipment and supply inventory.
Requirements
- Ability to type at a minimum speed as designated in the Class Specifications (minimum 40 WPM). A valid typing certificate confirming this speed must be obtained prior to hiring. Certificates must be issued within the last four years from a proctored, five-minute test that meets CalHR requirements. Internet-based, unproctored, or tests under five minutes will not be accepted.

Qualifications
Eligible applicants include individuals currently in the classification, those eligible for lateral transfer, reinstatement, list or LEAP eligibility, or those in the process of obtaining list eligibility. SROA and/or Surplus candidates are given priority. Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s).
Pay
$3,829.00 - $4,794.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.
Schedule
Permanent, Full Time. In-office work location with no telework options.
