About the role
The Office of the State Controller (SCO) is California’s chief fiscal office, ensuring accountability and transparency of the state’s financial practices while promoting fairness and opportunity. The Personnel and Payroll Services Division (PPSD) manages payroll systems, processes employee benefits, and handles personnel transactions for over 290,000 state employees. This role supports the Statewide Disability Program within PPSD, delivering essential services that impact the livelihoods of state workers.
Responsibilities
- Provide clerical and administrative support to Personnel/Payroll Operations Managers, Payroll Officers, and staff in the Statewide Disability Program.
- Audit, sort, and log incoming digital mail for reporting purposes.
- Process Payroll Irregularity notices for the Disability Program area and distribute them to appropriate departments or campuses.
- Distribute incoming disability documents and memos to staff.
- Cross-train on special projects as needed.
- Maintain filing systems for personnel/payroll documentation for historical and research purposes.
- Update and maintain weekly workload statistics.

- Eligibility requirements: current classification, lateral transfer, reinstatement, list or LEAP eligibility, or SROA/Surplus eligibility (priority given to SROA/Surplus candidates).
Pay
$3,758.00 - $4,710.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.
Schedule
Permanent, full-time position. Hybrid telework arrangement.
