Job Summary

The Survey Specialist (Office) supports field surveying activities and ensures the quality and accuracy of Land Engineering products. They support a variety of internal clients and possess surveying and mapping expertise.

Job Requirements

  • Education: High school degree required. Bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Mapping, Geomatics, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of field and/or office surveying and mapping experience preferred. Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or comparable mapping software required. Experience with PLS-CADD preferred. Experience in GIS and GPS for land surveying preferred. Experience in utility industry a plus.

  • Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of land and construction surveying concepts & techniques. Ability to interpret surveying and property documents and drawings. Understanding of property research needs to support field surveying. Knowledge of various survey coordinate datums and projection systems. Knowledge of Carlson data collection software, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcView, and PLS-CADD. Understanding of CADD Mapping, GIS, and GPS for land surveying. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills.

Duties

  • Quality control and quality assurance of surveying and mapping products.

  • Processing survey field data for boundary, topo, volumetric, hydrographic, etc. using Carlson software and/or company-specific software.

  • Performing mapping/PLS-CADD tasks as required to complete projects.

  • Providing first line support to Land Engineering field survey and office mapping staff.

  • Reviewing external mapping deliverables and communicating with contractors.

  • Updating procedure documentation for Land Engineering processes, as needed.

  • Providing training for Land Engineering production staff to ensure accurate, efficient, and complete field data acquisition and office mapping.

  • Tracking assigned projects status and providing timely feedback to update progress schedules.

  • Ensuring surveying and mapping products are delivered to clients on schedule.

Licenses & Certifications

  • A valid GA driver’s license is required. LSIT certification or RLS certification in Georgia is a plus.

Location

This position will be located at Georgia Power’s Office at 241 Ralph McGill Blvd, Atlanta, GA.

Other Job Requirements

  • Approximately 25% travel requirements.

  • This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle.

  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience. Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application. Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record.
