The Office of Undergraduate Financial Aid (UFA) and Student Employment (SE) at Princeton University supports and advances Princeton’s commitment to ensuring students from all economic backgrounds can afford to attend. The office awards aid to over 4,000 students annually with a scholarship budget of over $325M in FY26. Student Employment facilitates the hiring of 3,000 students annually across both aid and non-aid populations, supporting over 1,000 student employee supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for Student Employment and a primary point of contact for UFA, acting as a public face of the office by responding to and directing walk-in traffic, answering phones, and monitoring/responding to office email inquiries.
- Make appointments, escalate inquiries to senior staff, troubleshoot issues, and communicate technical or other challenges impacting students and families navigating employment and financial aid processes.
- Process student I-9 forms and Student Employment Verifications, and manage requests to create financial aid histories for students and alumni applying to graduate programs.
- Review confidential student and financial information to prepare over 5,000 files for counselor review, including determining completion of financial aid applications by reviewing tax documents and requesting additional information from students as needed.
- Review financial aid documents submitted as part of federal aid verification.
- Assist senior counseling staff with projects, including support for student employment initiatives, scholarship assignments, file notations, address changes, study abroad letters, and other tasks as assigned.
- Support the compliance team by troubleshooting FAFSA application mismatches, collecting, reviewing, and certifying verification documents for accuracy.
- Coordinate schedules for the Director and Deputy Director, prepare meeting materials, presentations, and follow-up documents to assist in accomplishing the unit’s objectives.
- Handle correspondence and respond to phone, paper, or electronic inquiries on behalf of the Director and Deputy Director.
- Perform other tasks as assigned, including assisting with special projects such as preparing materials for external departments (e.g., Office of Audit and Compliance).
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five or more years of work experience.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Highly organized with efficient, consistent, and accurate work habits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Drive, Docs, Forms, and Sheets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher education experience (desired but not required).

Pay
Salary range: $60,000 to $68,000.
Schedule
- Standard weekly hours: 36.25.
- Eligible for overtime: Yes.
- Probationary period: 90 days.
