About the role
The Wyoming Department of Corrections seeks an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Office Support Specialist to join the Cheyenne Field Services office. This 30-hour-a-week position supports the Field Services division, which handles pre-sentence investigations, probationer and parolee supervision, and contributes to positive outcomes and safer communities.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a specialist in the assigned program area, performing complex technical duties, including legal secretary responsibilities.
- Performs, leads, or supervises a wide variety of moderate to complex program and operational support duties.
- Serves as a subject matter expert, applying knowledge of programmatic and administrative requirements.
- Solves problems and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Coordinates and/or acts as a liaison between the agency or work unit and other agencies.
- Processes monthly electronic filing, corresponds with operators, sets up new operators for electronic filing, and maintains financial or other records.
- Verifies statistical reports for accuracy and completeness, assists with publishing statistical reports, and assists in budget development, analysis, and interpretation.
- Manages procurement processes according to established procedures, and involves processing/interpreting of legal documents.
Qualifications
- Possesses at least two years of work experience in an office environment.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and policies, technical processes, and procedures related to the department.
- Knowledge of financial record keeping and reporting principles and procedures, basic accounts payable, and purchasing.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee supervision, training, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of techniques for providing a high level of customer service.
