About the role
This position serves as support for the laboratory, ensuring efficient and accurate operations in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include greeting clients, vendors, and visitors, and addressing general inquiries. The role is full-time and benefit-eligible, with a schedule of Mon-Fri, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM. Candidates must live within a commutable distance to Ayer, MA.
Responsibilities
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Collect samples from on-site drop box
- Unpack shipments and document receipt of samples
- Organize and record samples
- Data entry into LIMS (TALS experience a plus)
- Maintain the department and lab, including stocking supplies and housekeeping
- Assist with customer service and handle interactions with walk-in clients
- Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Process daily mail and small shipments of bottle kits
- Provide excellent customer service to walk-in clients
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in biological or chemical science preferred
- Experience in a fast-paced work environment
- Lab experience and exposure to the environmental industry preferred
- TALS experience a plus
- Strong computer, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and positive attitude
- Ability to handle moderate stress in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong data entry skills
- Customer service experience
- Science-based background preferred
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
- Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking
