Job Summary

Affords assessments of physical and psychosocial statuses of patients via interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests. Develops and implements treatment plans, monitors patient progress, and coordinates care across the health-illness continuum.

About the Role

Part of a comprehensive healthcare network including six medical centers, over 80 physician practices, and a 607-bed hospital. Offers a range of services including surgery, maternity care, and cancer treatment. Emphasizes continuous learning and adherence to clinical protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Documents patient situations accurately in charts/records
  • Treats acute illnesses, manages chronic conditions, and performs physical exams
  • Counsels patients on health maintenance and disease prevention
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation for administrative and reimbursement purposes
  • Reviews and updates patient problem lists annually
  • Documents phone calls with patients and specialists
  • Maintains competence in clinical practice and participates in educational activities
  • Participates in quality assurance/risk management programs
  • Serves as a supervisor and intervenes in clinical issues
  • Supports triage by clinical staff and provides clinical education
  • Adheres to drug formulary and prescribes within practice agreement
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information
  • Maintains current protocols and wears appropriate identification
  • Ensures efficient use of resources and complies with safety standards
  • Manages hazardous waste and pharmaceuticals according to regulations

Requirements

  • Current RN license in South Carolina
  • Certification as Nurse Practitioner from an appropriate credentialing organization
  • CPR, BLS certification
