About the role
The CTA Curbside Improvement Program Office Engineer reports to the CTA Curbside Improvement Project Manager and assists with managing the scope, schedule, and operational interfaces of all design and construction-related activities for the CTA Curbside Improvement Program. This program focuses on the Arrivals curbside area around the entire CTA, from terminal entry doors to the outer island pick-up zone. The project encompasses comprehensive improvements from the curbside to garage facades and landscape zones, aiming to enhance the look and feel of LAX while reflecting a modern, safe, and iconic vision of the airport. These efforts elevate the overall passenger and visitor experience while adhering to stringent safety, security, and sustainability standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist the CTA Curbside Improvement Program in the receipt, distribution, and maintenance of submittals.
- Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control functions, input data into PM Web, and prepare management information status reports as required.
- Update and maintain logs for submittals and RFIs in PM Web, the project information system.
- Maintain project files and document/submittal management systems (hard and electronic copies).
- Work with Contractor(s) to ensure drawings are posted efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Distribute documents, submittals, and RFIs for review; track and compile responses/review comments, obtain management approval, and issue responses to Contractor(s).
- Manipulate electronic files of various formats to create exhibits for presentations and meetings.
- Complete other responsibilities and assist as assigned, such as attending and documenting project meetings (writing agendas and minutes), performing expediting functions, and preparing/maintaining an expediting log.
Requirements
- Technical/construction background with experience in an operating/active environment.
- Knowledge of design and construction contracting practices and methodologies.
- Experience in the project design life cycle from Concept to Project Definition Book to Permit to Bulletins.
- Experience in the project construction life cycle from pre-construction to estimating/buyout, phasing, implementation, and closeout.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with design and construction professionals, fostering open communication and mutual problem-solving.
- Contribute to high team morale through professionalism that reflects well on the project team and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (required).
- 5+ years of experience, preferably on airport projects.
- Experience with projects valued over $50 million.
- Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR, and Design/Build.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
- Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, or other relevant professional licenses.
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
- Ability to work in PM Web (preferred).
Element-Specific Requirements
- May assume other duties as required or needed.
- May be required to work past regular work shifts or various shifts as needed.
- LAWA will provide a desktop computer (VPN-capable) or a laptop; consultant must have a company-provided laptop for VPN access when away from the office.
- A consultant-provided cell phone is required.
- This is an on-site, full-time position (not remote) based at LAX or the project site.
- After-hours or weekend work may be required and is considered part of the salaried position.

Pay
$93,600 - $125,000 annual salary. The expected salary range is displayed in accordance with state law; final compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Based in the office or on the project site at LAX.
