About the role

This position is responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of the Admitting/Registration process in one of the following areas: Main Admitting/Acute Hospital, Pavilion Admitting, or Emergency Department. Such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning of the departments, but also the integration of these services into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The Office Coordinator supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure ongoing, effective operation of the Admitting/Registration process in Main Admitting/Acute Hospital, Pavilion Admitting, or Emergency Department
  • Integrate Admitting/Registration services into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System
  • Support an organizational culture for Service Excellence
  • Practice Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Management or health related field, or equivalent experience
  • Two to five years of experience in a healthcare environment or hospital admitting department recommended
  • Good supervisory, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility, self-motivation and high tolerance for stressful situations preferred
  • Computer experience recommended

Physical and sensory requirements

  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others
  • Ability to remain calm under stress
  • Ability to respond to pages, telephones, and other auditory stimulation
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions
  • Bending, lifting (10-20 lbs), grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, prolonged standing or sitting
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial data
