Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervise cashiers and control cash, coupons, food stamps, and other forms of payment.
- Assist in controlling and reporting absenteeism, maximizing production, and maintaining organization and cleanliness on the front-end.
- Train cashiers, office personnel, and are responsible for the balancing and security of all customer receipts.
- Perform all front-end and clerical functions.
- Responsible for security and proper administration of cash office funds.
- Complete cash and sales report daily, as well as weekly recaps.
- Handle cash in the cash drawer and safe.
- Issue, collect, and verify cash tills from cashiers.
- Prepare deposits and record all data appropriately.
- Inform manager in charge immediately when deposits are ready for transferal to the bank.
- Notify corporate office immediately if a deposit was not taken to be deposited for that day.
- Answer, screen, and route telephone calls.
- Notify manager in charge and General Store Manager of situations requiring disciplinary actions or situations potentially requiring such actions.
- Extend invoices and verify totals both in cost and retail extensions.
- Maintain accurate monthly company records and reports on a timely basis.
- Aid in training programs for new associates, as well as associates already on board.
- Promote customer goodwill by providing high standards of customer service.
- Aid customers with returned merchandise, over-rings, and overcharges.
- Handle cash pick-ups as required by company policy.
- Enforce store policy as it relates to front-end operations.
- Be observant.
- Have working knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping procedures.
- Have good interpersonal skills and a mature personality with leadership ability.
- Normally works a maximum 10-hour day and required to work a minimum of an 8-hour day.
- Travel to and from work.
- Give verbal and written instructions.
- Detail-oriented, with training ability.
- Read and write.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Operate a cash register and checkout belt.
- Lift up to 45 lbs.
- Communicate verbally with customers.
- Operate intercoms, phones, money order, and adding machines, safes, food stamp, and credit card equipment.
- Give change to cashiers and customers properly.
- Manage receipts and balance within prescribed limits.
- Perform sweeping and general cleaning duties around their work area.
- Stock candy and other products on shelves and in racks.
- Give direction and assign duties to cashiers.
- Reach and stock product up to 6 feet high.
- Cash checks and set-up, operate, and balance tills.
- Authorize credits, checks, refunds, and over-rings for cashiers as outlined.
- Stock and maintain on a daily basis all Deal's product display areas, stack basket display area, and dump bin area.
