Office Building Manager III
Are you passionate about leading the daily operations of complex building systems? The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a dynamic Office Building Manager III to join our Facilities Management Division (FMD) in Sacramento, CA.
About the role
Under the general direction of the Office Building Manager IV (OBM IV), the Office Building Manager III serves as the Building Manager over the Joe Serna Jr Building/CalEPA HQ, and is responsible for directing and supervising a large staff engaged in the overall custodial operations and maintenance services for a 950,000 sq/ft building in a major metropolitan area of State-owned and occupied buildings and grounds in accordance with Facilities Management Division (FMD) policies and procedures.
This position is responsible for the overall administration and maintenance of the Joe Serna Jr Building/CalEPA HQ, including management of customer service and the operational budget, and will plan and assign work of subordinate staff, and develop an overall master maintenance schedule.
Responsibilities
- Managing and overseeing the day-to-day operation of the assigned building(s) and staff by developing overall master maintenance schedules
- Reviewing and approving final budget estimates for repair, maintenance, and custodial operations, monitoring expenses, financial reports, and projecting cost variances
- Supervising, directing, and evaluating staff by monitoring and establishing performance expectations and requirements, providing training, hiring and maintaining adequate staff
- Maintaining excellent customer service while balancing competing priorities
- Project management of contracted services such as building alterations and improvements
- Administering health and safety programs
Qualifications
- Four years of progressively responsible building management experience, one year of which shall have involved the supervision of a large office, institutional building, or group of buildings of at least 300,000 square feet, involving public contacts and responsibility for a large maintenance and custodial staff.
