About the role
This position involves a variety of administrative and technical duties using personal computer-based software, components, and peripherals to support unit operations.
Responsibilities
- Utilize word processing software to create, format, modify, and electronically print a variety of documents.
- Use database applications or software to input and update information, perform standard and ad hoc queries, and retrieve data for preparing standard and nonstandard reports.
- Operate electronic mail software to receive, distribute, and send correspondence in support of daily operations.
- Prepare requests for Temporary Duty (TDY), process clearance requests, prepare travel vouchers and itineraries, and make reservations.
- Track and enter employee time, attendance, and labor data using various software platforms.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
Qualifications
GS-05
- Specialized Experience: One year of experience utilizing a variety of personal computer-based software, components, and peripherals to prepare correspondence, edit documents, and enter data such as Microsoft Office suite applications and other automated programs. This experience is typically gained at the GS-04 level.
- Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university.
- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may qualify if the total percentage of requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide total months of experience by 12 and semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60, then add the two percentages.
GS-06
- Specialized Experience: One year of experience using software programs to create, edit, and maintain a wide range of documents and reports, as well as coordinating training and/or travel for employees. This experience is typically gained at the GS-05 level.
- Education: A half year (9 semester hours) of graduate-level education in a field such as Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may qualify if the total percentage of requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide total months of experience by 12 and the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9, then add the two percentages.
Experience and education obtained in foreign colleges or universities must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in the interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
