About the role
The United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Texas seeks to hire an Office Automation Assistant to join a respected team. Typical work assignments include greeting visitors and screening telephone calls, processing incoming and outgoing mail, scheduling conference rooms, preparing a variety of written documents, and providing administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Greet visitors and screen telephone calls
- Process incoming and outgoing mail
- Schedule conference rooms
- Prepare a variety of written documents using various office automation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Provide office clerical and administrative support to one or more staff members
Requirements
- Must be a United States Citizen or National
- Pre-employment security investigation and background check required, including drug screening
- May be required to complete a probationary or trial period
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on or after December 31st 1959
- Must meet all eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement and continue to meet these requirements throughout the hiring process
Qualifications
- To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must have at least ONE year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service; OR four years of education above the high school level; OR a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below.
- To be eligible at the GS-6 level, you must have at least ONE year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service.
- Specialized experience is defined as: greeting visitors, screening telephone calls, performing incoming and outgoing mail duties, preparing a variety of written documents, and maintaining work schedules.
- Experience utilizing software applications to prepare documents, spreadsheets and emails (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook or Access); establishing and maintaining administrative files and correspondence; operating multi-functional copier, printer, fax and multi-line telephone system; greeting visitors, screening telephone calls, and performing incoming and outgoing mail duties.
- Bilingual-English/Spanish preferred
