About the role
Eagle Cap Law is seeking an Office Assistant / Legal Assistant to join their team in Wallowa County, Oregon. This position offers the opportunity to grow into a junior paralegal role and potentially a more advanced paralegal role over time.
Responsibilities
- Helping track tasks, deadlines, and client follow-up items
- Answering phones and taking clear messages
- Greeting clients and helping with client check-in
- Scheduling appointments and managing calendar items
- Printing, scanning, copying, mailing, and organizing documents
- Sending invoices and helping with billing administration
- Organizing physical and digital files
- Running local office, court, or county-related errands as needed
- Preparing basic legal documents from samples and templates
- Helping organize probate matters
- Assisting with court filings and recording-related tasks
- Preparing subpoenas, exhibits, and document indexes
- Formatting declarations, pleadings, and other legal documents
- Drafting routine client communications for attorney review
Requirements
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Interested in learning legal technology and AI tools
- Professional and comfortable speaking with clients
- Comfortable with Microsoft Word, PDFs, email, and online software
- Able to work independently and solve problems
- Careful with confidential information
- Honest about mistakes and willing to fix them
- Interested in staying and growing with the position for more than a short-term stop
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a law office, professional office, or other detail-heavy administrative setting is helpful, but is not required

Benefits
- Starting pay is expected to be in the range of $25–$34/hour, depending on experience and skill level
- A strong candidate with no legal experience may start toward the lower end of the range
- A candidate with law-office, litigation, or strong administrative experience may start higher
- Raises and additional responsibilities are available as the employee learns the practice, handles work independently, and grows into legal assistant or paralegal-level duties
- A health/dental benefit or health-benefit arrangement may become available after approximately 60 days for an employee who moves into a regular ongoing role, subject to schedule, eligibility, plan terms, and final benefit structure
Pay and Benefits
- Pay: $25.00 - $34.00 per hour
