This position is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). Candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complicated numerical tasks using accepted accounting, auditing, statistical, payroll, or other procedures where mathematical calculations are fundamental.
  • Supervise clerical support staff in the performance of routine numerical tasks.
  • Process transactions requiring mathematical calculation and knowledge of the assigned program area.
  • Design and produce summary reports using database or spreadsheet software.
  • Review unit or department financial forms (e.g., vouchers) for conformance with approved spending.

Requirements

  • One year of experience where most work time is spent performing mathematical operations and/or clerical activities related to mathematical operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Transfer: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer.
  • Open to the Public: This title is part of the NY HELPS program. Candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position.

This position may be designated 55b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.

Background Investigation Requirements

  • All prospective employees will undergo a Criminal Background Check (CBC), including State and federal Criminal History Record Checks.
  • All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or falsified/omitted information on the employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment.
  • Prospective employees will be fingerprinted and may be required to pay associated fees.
  • Prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) and may be required to pay associated fees.
  • For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) appointees, a check against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) will be conducted. Those found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment.
