Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding)
Job Summary
Duties include but are not limited to: Data-basing, e-filing, managing incoming forms and outgoing releases of information. This individual will also provide support to the office functioning as a front window receptionist, handling telephone communication, and performing miscellaneous general clerical tasks (e.g. creating new medical charts, filing, processing and delivering departmental mail, chart preparation and labeling, answering phones, and other duties as assigned).
Responsibilities
- Supports the office as a front window receptionist
- Handles telephone communication
- Performs miscellaneous general clerical tasks
- Communicates effectively and provides excellent customer service
- Manages multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner
Requirements
- Must demonstrate excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word is preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred
Qualifications
The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed the NY HELPS program. During this program, the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements are suspended for the Office Assistant 1, SG006 title. For consideration for this title, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
