About the role

This position provides technical and administrative support to DCT within the HIMS Department. This position is expected to analyze medical records for completeness according to DCT standards.

Responsibilities

  • Index and scan paper medical record documents into electronic medical record after verifying all documents are completed in entirety and includes all pages.
  • Maintain a daily filing/scanning schedule to ensure accurate, up-to-date information is accessible in the medical record.
  • Respond to requests for medical records as needed for admissions and discharge for inpatient and outpatient programs.
  • Manage data collection of Health Information statistical data as required by accrediting and licensing agencies.
  • Analyze medical records for completeness according to DCT and facility policies & procedures.
  • Affiliate with and participate in tasks as identified in the operation of the Health Information Management Services Department.

Requirements

This position requires an employee to be onsite at Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center, Anoka, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework is available on a limited basis. Only candidates residing in Minnesota or a state bordering Minnesota (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) within 50 miles of the work address listed above are eligible for telework.

Qualifications

  • Specialized Terminology including medical terminology; document management; scanning, indexing and quality control.
  • Data Entry skills sufficient to create database records and update entries or create and apply the basics of spreadsheets and supply/retrieve information in databases.
  • English Language skills write, speak, and/or read sufficient to compose correspondence with accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation; and to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and the general public.
  • Physical Demands of this position include standing, sitting, pulling, stooping; ability to lift and move paper and batched documents of up to 20 pounds; ability to move arms on a continual basis sufficient to open mail, sort, and file documents.
  • Spreadsheet Skills sufficient to develop and modify basic spreadsheets, and sort and extract data.
  • Typing/Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete a variety of reports, letters, forms, and data summaries.

Skills

Experience within the records management field, medical terminology, or electronic medical records.

Ability to interact with superiors, employees, and the public to gain their support and establish positive working relationships.

Ability to prepare, maintain and compile reports regarding health information.
