Responsibilities
- Provides nursing leadership across assigned departments
- Oversees the Nursing Support Services (NSS) team
- Promotes accountability for nursing standards and professional practice
- Supports complex clinical situations and escalations
- Counsels and develops nursing staff and emerging leaders
- Addresses concerns proactively before they escalate
- Aids in conflict resolution and team development
- Reinforces organizational values and expected behaviors
- Reviews safety events, trends, and Safe Connect reports
- Conducts patient safety rounds
- Maintains compliance with regulatory and nursing standards
- Follows up on near misses and identifies opportunities for improvement
- Reinforces bedside shift report and other evidence-based practices
- Conducts patient and family rounding
- Addresses service recovery concerns in real time
- Supports difficult patient and family conversations
- Escalates concerns requiring additional leadership intervention
- Partners with House Supervisors regarding staffing, capacity, and throughput
- Supports admissions, transfers, and discharges when barriers arise
- Maintains productivity and operational performance
- Removes obstacles impacting patient care and team effectiveness
- Collaborates with Unit Managers and the Director of Nursing Operations on department initiatives
- Serves as the after-hours representative for nursing leadership
- Communicates significant events and emerging concerns to nursing leaders and executives
- Ensures appropriate handoff and follow-up to day-shift leadership
- Participates in leadership huddles and organizational communication efforts
- Reinforces organizational culture, engagement, and accountability
- Identifies opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, and patient care delivery
- Supports Lean and Performance Improvement initiatives
- Audits compliance with nursing standards and operational expectations
- Aids in implementation of new programs and initiatives
- Collects frontline feedback to inform leadership decision-making
Requirements
- BSN Required
- NYS RN License
Qualifications
- Education: BS: Nursing (Required)
- Licenses / Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), American Heart Association (AHA), American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED), New York State Education Department (NYSED), New York State Education Department (NYSED)
