Summary

DLA Piper is seeking an Of Counsel with strong legal writing skills particularly in the area of pharmaceutical/medical device Daubert / Rule 702 motions practice to join its Litigation group. This position is open to any of our U.S. offices.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and drafting discovery responses, briefs, motions, and memoranda
  • Communicating with clients
  • Supervising associates

  • Assisting with fact development and depositions
  • Helping develop case strategy

Requirements

  • Must have a science background (MD, MPH, PharmD, Epidemiology) to be considered
  • 8+ years of experience (preferably gained while practicing at an AmLaw 100 firm)
  • Extensive experience writing briefs, including specifically Rule 702 of the Federal Rules of Evidence and Daubert issues
  • Experience with products liability litigation
  • Experience with pharmaceutical and medical device industry a plus

Physical Demands, Work Environment, And Other Requirements

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Pay Transparency

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $400,000 - $500,000 per year depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
