About the role

The Ocotillo Technology Fabrication (OTF) Wet Etch Module Engineer role is multifaceted. The ideal candidate will have a passion for instrumentation and equipment with the goal of developing a robust manufacturable process module. As an OTF Module Engineer you will play an important role in the OTF engineering team, owning all aspects of one or more of the factory's 300mm toolsets.

Your sustaining responsibilities will include the safety and cleanliness of your area and ensuring Copy Exactly for your toolset. You will review relevant control charts and tool output daily to keep your toolset and layers excursion-free. You will be responsible for delivering Model of Record (MOR) availability and achieving 100 percent matching for all relevant operations. For new technology start-ups, you will handle tool installations, conversions, and qualifications, as well as sustained matching performance. You will drive continuous improvement in the health and matching of your toolset(s) by maintaining and driving an improvement roadmap, leading your tools and area to achieve record tool availability, cycle time, and record low defect densities in support of OTF’s factory goals.

OTF supports High-Volume Manufacturing, and your role may include module-level process development in support of the factory’s goals and output. Position may require working on a day or night shift as an on-shift engineer (OSE) to support toolset needs.

Responsibilities

  • Define roadmaps to meet requirements, goals, and milestones for a new technology process.
  • Define and establish flow, procedures, and equipment configuration for the module.
  • Select and develop material and equipment for the process to meet quality, yield, reliability, cost, productivity, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Plan and conduct experiments to fully characterize the process throughout the development cycle.
  • Drive improvements on quality, yield, reliability, process stability, productivity, and safety/ergonomic variables such as material, method, equipment, environment, and operating personnel.
  • Develop solutions to problems utilizing formal education, statistical knowledge, and problem-solving tools.
  • Establish process control systems for the process module and sustain the module through volume ramp.
  • Develop strategy to resolve difficult problems and establish systems to deal with these problems in the future.
  • Train production/receiving process engineers for transfer to other factories.
  • Transfer process to high-volume manufacturing and provide support in new factory start-up, including install and qualification of new production lines.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, or related engineering STEM field with 1+ years of experience OR Master's degree in the same fields with 6+ months of experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor engineering, supporting high-volume manufacturing ramps, and technology transfers.
  • Must be willing to lift up to 35 pounds (18 kgs) 4 times a day.
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in a semiconductor factory as a technician or engineer.
  • Experience in the Wet Etch functional area.
  • Knowledge of statistics and experimental design, and the ability to apply that knowledge to tool matching, tool qualification, and process development.
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.

Pay

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $89,010 - $146,440 USD. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

This role will require an on-site presence and may include working on a day or night shift as an on-shift engineer (OSE) to support toolset needs.
