Key Responsibilities
- Manages, oversees, and performs supervisory tasks to direct and control activities performed to effectively manage the end-to-end Ocean Freight processes.
- Partners with finance and branch leadership, reviewing account-level profitability and recommending adjustments to improve margin and operational performance.
- Reviews and manages month-end reports, reviews P&L, open Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Oversees shipment accounting functions, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, cost allocation, and timely financial reporting.
- Builds and maintains relationships with customers, vendors, and third-party service providers to optimize cargo delivery.
- Addresses and resolves customer inquiries promptly to maintain satisfaction and trust.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, including customs regulations and trade laws.
- Stays updated on changes in ocean freight regulations and import/export controls.
- Sets Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for productivity, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
- Conducts performance reviews and provides coaching and escalation support.
- Acts as senior escalation point for key customers and internal stakeholders.
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff. Assigns work, sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes.
What We Are Looking For
- Extensive experience with Import and Export Ocean operations is a must.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or related field or 15 + years of experience.
- 5+ years' leadership experience in the freight forwarding industry is required.
- Hazmat / DG experience is preferred.
- 1+ years' Cargo Wise software experience is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with FCL, LCL, and co-loading operations.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and presentations).
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook).
- Demonstrated leadership ability to include driving KPIs, employee engagement / team building.
