About the role
The California Institute of Technology Postdoctoral Scholars Program at JPL invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position at the Ocean Circulation Group. The research will focus on studying ocean salinity and freshwater flux, analyzing satellite data and model results to improve understanding of near-surface salinity stratification and river runoffs.
Responsibilities
- Analyze satellite data (e.g., ocean surface salinity, GRACE ocean-bottom-pressure, and altimetry sea-level).
- Work with model results.
- Collaborate with Dr. Y. Tony Song, Research Scientist, in JPL's Earth Science Section.
- Ensure research work leads to publications in the open literature.
Requirements
- Recent Ph.D. in oceanography, computational fluid dynamics, or a related field.
- Skills in Unix/Linux, Matlab, and parallel computing.
- Prior experience with a community user models, particularly ROMS, is a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship.
- U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR).
- Foreign Nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J-1 visa status.
- Applicants for LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with 1) a valid EAD card and 2) I-485 or I-589 forms in pending status.
Skills
- Unix/Linux.

- Experience with community user models, particularly ROMS.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Pay
