Occupational Therapy Instructor (Part-Time 300 Hours)

About the Role

Carroll University seeks a dynamic and innovative part-time Instructor for its fully accredited Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program. This 12-month, part-time appointment (300 hours/year) focuses on teaching and student support, with a start date of August 24, 2026. The MOT program boasts outstanding facilities, including the new College of Health Sciences building and the Carroll University Community Health Services Building, which provides community-based experiential learning opportunities.

Areas of expertise preferred (but not limited to) include evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, research, pediatrics, orthopedics, or hand therapy. The successful candidate will contribute to the entry-level MOT curriculum through didactic, laboratory, and student support instruction. Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in the MOT curriculum, including:
  • Fall Semester: OTH515 Human Movement & Occupational Performance (3-credit lecture)
  • Spring Semester: OTH 561 Interventions in Physical Dysfunction I (1.5-credit lecture, co-teaching; 1-credit lab, co-teaching)
  • Spring Semester: OTH 651 Research II (2 credits)
  • Summer Semester: OTH 506 Applied Anatomy & Physiology Lab (1-credit lab, co-teaching)
  • Summer Semester: OTH 506 Tutor Sessions (3 hours/week)
• Participate in admissions review (20 hours/year).
• Support student learning through didactic, laboratory, and instructional activities.

Teaching assignments are based on instructional needs and may be modified by the MOT Program Director/Chair to align with program priorities, curriculum delivery, faculty expertise, enrollment, and accreditation requirements.

Requirements

• Hold an academic terminal degree (post-professional OTD, PhD, EdD, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in occupational therapy.
• NBCOT certification and current (or eligibility for) Wisconsin licensure.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.

About the Program

The Carroll University Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program is a full-time, 24-month, 86-credit curriculum enrolling a 30-student cohort annually. The program is fully accredited until 2030, with all previous graduating classes exceeding the national NBCOT certification pass rate. The curriculum aligns with Carroll University’s mission and ACOTE standards, including a unique three-course interprofessional series focused on culturally appropriate care and service to underrepresented populations.

The MOT program is housed in the new 65,000 sq. ft. College of Health Sciences building, featuring comprehensive teaching, laboratory, and simulation spaces. The program also utilizes the Michael and Mary Jaharis Laboratories for its state-of-the-art cadaver lab and Anatomage Dissection table.

Pay

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. The contract term is one year (potential for renewal), covering Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.
