Occupational Therapy Assistant

About the role

Assist Occupational Therapists in implementing treatment programs to enhance residents' activities of daily living (ADLs), strength, mobility, and independence.

Responsibilities

• Document therapy sessions and progress accurately.
• Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions.
• Provide adaptive equipment recommendations and environmental modifications when appropriate.
• Educate residents and caregivers on therapy techniques and treatment plans.
• Maintain therapy supplies, equipment, and treatment areas.
• Follow facility policies and documentation standards.

Requirements

• Current COTA license in good standing with the NYS Board of Education.
• Certification through AOTCB required.
• Experience in skilled nursing or rehabilitation settings preferred.
• Knowledge of MDS, PRI, and care planning is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
