Occupational Therapy Assistant

Job Summary

Provides Occupational Therapy services by supporting the evaluation and treatment of residents/clients, helping develop and carry out therapy plans, and completing related documentation and communication. Works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.

Job Duties

• Assists in the screening of residents/clients;
• Implements treatment for assigned residents/clients;
• Delivers treatment to achieve identified objectives according to the established treatment plan;
• Adapts techniques/media as indicated by resident performance and following consultation with the Occupational Therapist;
• Monitors patient’s response to intervention and consults with Occupational Therapist if modification is indicated;
• Trains resident/client, family, and appropriate staff in the use or application of the above;
• Participates in resident/client, family, and staff education;
• Maintains positive relationships and rapport with coworkers, resident/client, family members, and facility personnel;
• Projects a positive and professional image at all times;
• Maintains a safe and clean work area and adheres to facility/corporate safety standards.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program and licensed in the state of MN.
• Experience: One to three years of prior experience in a rehabilitation setting such as acute care, inpatient rehab, outpatient clinics, SNFS, long-term care, assisted living, memory care, or home health.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills are essential.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written (read, write) communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 required.
• Net Health software experience required.
• Familiarity with other healthcare software, such as PointClickCare (PCC), is a plus.
• Maintains good attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work varying hours, including weekends and holidays.
