About the role

The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, and implements treatment for assigned patients under the supervision of the Director of Rehab and OT Team Leader.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and plans occupational therapy interventions for adolescent through geriatric patients.
  • Achieves age-specific needs through assessment and interpretation of patient data.
  • Exercises limited supervision over Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), aides, students, volunteers, and observers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master’s, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school required.
  • New graduates acceptable; one to two years of Occupational Therapy experience preferred.
  • Current licensure (or license eligible) as an Occupational Therapist by the PA State Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs required.
  • Criminal history check, Child Abuse Central Register clearances, FBI fingerprint clearances (PA State Police, PA Department of Public Welfare, PA Department of Human Services, PA Department of Aging), and CPR certification required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • A valid PA driver's license is required due to travel for community reintegration activities and between sites.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
  • Interpretation of information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care appropriate to the age-specific needs and culture of the patient served.
  • NBCOT certification preferred.
