About the role
Evaluates patients upon referral and develops and implements rehabilitative treatment programs to restore or improve hand therapy patients' optimal level of function, independence, and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Performs a complete initial evaluation on receipt of referral.
- Develops and implements treatment plan, including appropriate short and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals.
- Involves patient, family, and staff in the implementation of the treatment program.
- Evaluates patient's functional status progressively, to ensure that treatment program goals are appropriate to patient's current needs; adjusts treatment plan and goals accordingly.
- Maintains complete documentation of patients' evaluations, treatment, progress, and discharge status.
- Sends required information to appropriate professionals.
- Participates in multidisciplinary activities.
- Participates in continuing education programs within as well as outside the hospital.
- Provides supervision to students during their affiliation.
- Participates in quality improvement programs and projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (required).
- NYS License in Occupational Therapy (required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Hand Therapy experience preferred.
- Certification in Hand Therapy (preferred).
Skills
- Strong computer and communication skills.
