Professional Duties
- Conduct screenings and assessments for students age 3 to 22 years in order to determine eligibility and service needs related to occupational therapy
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEP) with occupational therapy goals and intervention strategies that support children's functional participation in their academic program
- Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services in a variety of natural learning environments based on the frequency and duration determined by the IEP team
- Support students' development in areas including fine motor control, visual motor integration, sensory processing and self-regulation, activities of daily living, social participation, and classroom engagement
- Collaborate with teachers, educational technicians, Speech-language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers, and administrators to support integrated and inclusive educational programming
- Provide coaching and consultation to educators and families regarding learning strategies, environmental adaptations, assistive tools, sensory supports, and accommodations that promote successful participation and independence
- Maintain ongoing communication with families and the education team regarding student goals and progress
- Complete required documentation including evaluations, individual education plans, progress reports, and service logs in a timely and compliant manner
Requirements
- Maine Licensure as an Occupational Therapist
- State of Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) necessary - reimbursed by Leaps & Bounds Therapy
